Weekly review week 34 – Forest fire and shooting festival
Calendar week 34 was dominated by a forest fire near Langenfeld and the SPD's call for a special session on the Ara project.
Introduction
Calendar week 34 from 17 to 23 August 2026 was shaped by a major forest fire and local political moves. The traditional shooting festival in Reusrath ran in parallel.
Forest fire near Langenfeld
From 17 August a 50-hectare woodland area between Langenfeld and Langscheid burned. Netterhöfe was evacuated as a precaution. Posts Waldbrand bei Langenfeld and Waldbrand zwischen Langenfeld und Langscheid note that the fire was later contained and evacuees returned.
Schützenfest Reusrath

SPD calls for special session on Ara decision
On 19 August the SPD Langenfeld submitted a request for an extraordinary council meeting. The reason is the absence of a formal traffic-routing decision for the Ara project in the construction and transport committee. The pieces 20. S6 unaffected by Munich construction
From 25 August several stops of lines S3, S4, S6 and S8 will be skipped in Munich’s Laim district. No comparable restrictions apply to the S6 in the Rhineland. The report Münchner Baustelle trifft Langenfeld S6 nicht confirms that Langenfeld commuters can expect normal service.
