The council in Langenfeld met to introduce the double budget for 2027/2028.

The administration presented the draft. It includes raising the trade tax rate to 385 percent and property tax B to 975 percent. Both figures come from the September 2026 report by the Rheinische Post.
Criticism from factions
CDU, SPD and FDP objected to the tax increases. They also criticized the planned savings targets and the lack of new commercial land. The objections were made public right after the session.
Affected areas
The planned taxes concern businesses and property owners in Langenfeld. The criticism focuses on missing sites for new companies. The administration justified the measures with rising costs and growing debt.
Next steps
A decision on the budget is still pending. The factions announced further deliberations. No new public statements have been released so far.
