On 8 October 2026 the city council passed a statement opposing the pipeline project by fourteen votes to three. The AfD and FDP councillors voted against. The document now goes to the Düsseldorf district authority.
Asset manager IMAXXAM signed a lease for a new multibrand store in Langenfeld. The opening is scheduled for later this year.
