Warnings for Langenfeld and Arft have been lifted. 220 emergency personnel continue to secure the area.
On 26 August 2026 the evacuation warnings for the villages of Langenfeld and Arft were lifted. This is reported by tagesschau.de.
Lifted Warnings
The warnings had been issued due to the forest fire in the Hürtgenwald. Since 13 August 2026 the blaze had spread across 300 to 400 hectares. Wikipedia describes it as the largest forest fire in North Rhine-Westphalia since official records began in 1991.
Affected Locations
Langenfeld lies in the immediate region of the fire area. Arft had also been under warning. The fire service remains on site overnight.
Current Operation
Around 220 emergency personnel continue to secure the area. The figures come from tagesschau.de. No further public steps on firefighting have been announced yet.

The fire started on 13 August 2026 in the Hürtgenwald in Kreis Düren. It expanded rapidly. The evacuation warnings remained in place until 26 August 2026.
Police reports from Langenfeld/Rheinland for August 2026 mention a separate apartment fire in Ratingen-Lintorf. It had no connection to the forest fire.
The fire service keeps securing the site. This applies through the night of 27 August 2026.
