Langenfeld: Current Urban Developments and Infrastructure Projects May 2026
In May 2026 the city of Langenfeld is implementing several infrastructure measures. These aim to improve quality of life and promote sustainable mobility. All information is based on official announcements from the city administration.
Construction Projects in the City Centre
Work to renew the sidewalks along Hauptstraße began at the start of May. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of June. Pedestrians are asked to follow the designated detours. Further details are available on the City of Langenfeld website.
In addition, the market square is being fitted with new seating and green elements. Work takes place during daytime hours and causes only minor disruption to market operations.
Traffic Measures and Cycle Paths
A new cycle path is being constructed on Kreisstraße 9. Completion is planned for autumn 2026. The city is cooperating with the Mettmann district. The goal is improved connection to the supra-regional cycle network.
Public Participation
Residents can submit comments on the planned measures until 25 May 2026. Submissions are possible by email or via the citizen portal. The city evaluates all feedback and incorporates it into further planning.
